Graduation Ceremony at the Orpheum Theatre

June 5th marked the third convocation ceremony for students of the Therapeutic Touch Practitioner Certificate Program at Langara College. This year saw the convocation at the Orpheum Theatre - what a beautiful venue! This year we saw four more graduates: Alana, Heather, Vera, and Ling Ling. What a great accomplishment!

Pictured here are: Instructors: Tama and Cheryl, Graduates: Heather and Alana, Instructors: Frances and Marie, Manager of Health and Human Service: Linda.

Unable to attend and also pictured here is Ling Ling at the completion of the Therapeutic Touch Mentorship course.

Also unable to attend, Vera (right) now living in Hong Kong, is pictured with Cheryl at the completion of the Therapeutic Touch Mentorship course.

The Therapeutic Touch Practitioner Certificate Program can be completed in a minuimum of one year or up to three years.  Students report they have a deep level of understanding, an increased level of confidence, and a deep sense of connection with their classmates and the Therapeutic Touch community as a whole. Providing Therapeutic Touch sessions in various health care facilities in different communities adds to the richness of the experience. For further information on this program see https://langara.ca/continuing-studies/programs-and-courses/programs/therapeutic-touch/programs.html

National Therapeutic Touch Awareness Week

Therapeutic Touch Practitioners Graduate from Langara College Therapeutic Touch Practitioner Certificate Program

June 6th marked the second convocation ceremony for students of the Therapeutic Touch Practitioner Certificate Program. The program which can be completed in a minuimum of one year or up to three years began in March of 2015. In June of 2016 we had one graduate and June of 2017 six more students graduated from this program! The only program of it's kind, it gives students the necessary understanding and skills to practice Therapeutic Touch. Students report they have a deep level of understanding, an increased level of confidence, and a deep sense of connection with their classmates and the Therapeutic Touch community as a whole. Providing Therapeutic Touch sessions in various health care facilities in different communities really seems to add to the richness of the experience. Therapeutic Touch continues to be strong around the world!

Therapeutic Touch International Association Congress was held April 21-23, 2017. On the first day of the congress I did a presentation on the Therapeutic Touch Practitioner Certificate Program from Langara College.  It was very well received!

There were people from 8 different countries at the congress which was held in Itasca, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. It was really neat to hear what a big influence Therapeutic Touch is having around the world! One person, Peninah Abatoni, living in Rwanda, Africa teaches Therapeutic Touch to villagers who go out into the community and provide Therapeutic Touch to both their village and those in the surrounding countryside. On one occasion she taught 1 man and 1 woman from 50 different villages! This is an area that was hit hard by both genocide and AIDS. When she teaches Therapeutic Touch it is all free as the participants have no money to pay. She arranges free transportation and a lunch for them as well. Most, if not all of the congress participants, donated money for Peninah to continue teaching TT. Peninah is working on having at least one of Dolores Krieger’s books translated into their native language! The work she and so many others are doing is inspiring!!!
